About Ivory LaNoue

I've been singing for most of my life. My voice is naturally warm, clear, and expressive. It's especially suited to music that tells a story. Over the years, I've sung  National and International commercial jingles, in stage productions, trios, with a Celtic band, and fronted a big band. I enjoy singing a wide range of styles, but I'm most drawn to songs where the voice can carry emotion, atmosphere, and meaning.

My background includes performing Celtic, traditional folk, soft rock, big band, Renaissance and Medieval music, as well as contemporary and spiritual songs.

I approach singing less as a display of technique and more as a way of communicating. For me, the most important thing is that the listener feels something and engages in the story I'm singing.

My songwriting is rooted in story, atmosphere, and emotion. I especially enjoy writing songs that feel as though they belong to another time or place; music inspired by history, nature, spirituality, mystery, and the unseen world. Many of my songs have a strong visual quality, and I often begin with an image, a feeling, a moment, or a story that gradually becomes music.

I write across several styles including folk, country, New Age, Renaissance-inspired, spiritual, acoustic, and more atmospheric pieces. Some songs are quiet and reflective, while others are dramatic, rhythmic, or powerful. What matters most to me is that each song has its own identity and does not feel interchangeable with everything else.

I want my songs to take the listener somewhere. Whether that is into an old story, a desert landscape, a moonlit field, a spiritual experience, or a deeply personal emotion; I want my music to create a world for a few minutes and invite the listener into it.

I began singing on stage at the age of 5 and, in one form or another, I never really stopped. Over the years, I've performed in many different settings and styles, including singing with a big band, fronting a Celtic band, singing in an Andrews Sisters tribute trio, along with numerous theater performances.

Currently, I sing in the monthly Sedona, Arizona show Friday Nights at the Theater. I also perform regularly at events for The Society for Creative Anachronism, where I am known as Lady Ivory.  In these events, I share traditional, historical, and my original period-inspired songs.

Something I really enjoy is the connection that happens when a song moves from rehearsal into a live performance. When it becomes something shared with an audience.
